I'm failing to understand the purpose of stopping in port for a "relaxing vacation". I was under the apparently false impression that this wasn't a pleasure cruise.

[Private to Ariadne]

I'm assuming you want to disembark.

[At least one of them is being wary of their situation. While Heero's looking out possible threats and other things needed for survival, Ariadne's focused on the beauty and feeling of the port. It's almost like being in the dream except she can't manipulate with the physics here.

You've got to admit, this port is beautiful.

[She shrugs at his question. In all truth, it's on the back of her mind as well. Still, this port doesn't seem like false advertising so far.] You heard his announcement, right? We're here on vacation. [At least she hopes so...]

[That's a pretty horrible definition, sorry to say. Aren't vacations supposed to be relaxing? Obviously, he hasn't gone out much.]

We should, but let's do some exploring first. [As practical as finding shelter sounds, it also sounds incredibly dull.]

We'll probably find some shelter along the way. [Before Heero can say anything, Ariadne starts heading towards the jungle.]

[Unlike him, she's looking at everything with fascination. It feels like she's walking through a painting with the intricate woven tree branches and vines, the lush colors of the tropical fruits, and the bright colored birds flying around them. She grabs a couple flowers and leaves, and carefully puts them in her pocket so she can press them into her sketchbook later.

She shakes her head at his question.]

I haven't. [Unless you count dream-scapes...] You?

[She tenses at the sound too, and looks at Heero.] What was that?

[She sighs in relief at the sight. Who knew a Bambi-look-alike could get them so riled up?

She inwardly smiles at the thought until she hears his request.]

I don't think that's possible. Just let it go. [Though they need food, she isn't exactly keen on killing the deer.]

Want to go fishing instead?

Then why do you need your gun?

[In all truth, she's not comfortable with him holding a gun. It's not because he's an inmate, but rather, someone that young shouldn't know how to use such a deadly weapon.]

I haven't either. Want to try anyway?

Makes sense. Unfortunately, not even the wardens were allowed to take weapons to port.

We should look for a some sort of fresh water pond for now. [Then she pauses for a moment, realizing something.] You said you never fished before, right? So you have no idea how to do it?

Neither do I. [...This could be a problem.]

Do you have any fishing wire or anything like that?

However long the port lasts. About two days at most.

[She starts looking around too. After a few minutes, she stumbles upon a fallen branch stuck between the roots of the tree. Despite much effort trying to get it out, the stick won't budge.]

Heero, can you help me get this out?

[If there's one thing her arrival at the Barge has taught Ariadne, it's not to share personal information about her life with well...anyone really. She doesn't want to repeat her counterpart's mistakes.

Both impressed and slightly envious that someone her height and built had more arm strength than her, she thanks Heero and grabs the stick.]

You should find a stick too. After, we'll sharpen the ends with some rocks.

[After all, that's what they do in the movies...Times like these she wishes that she stuck with Girl Scouts as a kid.]

Can't hurt to try, right? [Besides, they don't have the materials to make some fancy fishing rod. Being primitive is the way to go for survival situations like this.

Sitting down on the ground, Ariadne motions Heero to sit next to her. After handing him a jagged rock, she takes her own and starts sharpening the edge of her stick to a point. It's sorta like sharpening a huge pencil, though pencils aren't usually used to stab fish.]
