[Filtered from Hoffman, Slick and David, because someone is paranoid.]

[It's taken some effort, but Heero has managed to get his paws on his communicator and turned the video feed on. He's an African Blackfooted Cat - which are about the same size as/a little smaller than the average house cat. Basically, tiny, adorable little things that will fuck up your shit if you bother it.

His ears flick back for a moment, and generally he looks kind of annoyed by his present situation, but it could have been much worse.]

Olive. Where are you?

[Filtered to "People he sort of cares about", but hasn't talked to already:  Cooper, Kay, Una, Brax.]

Are you affected?

[Look, he has the courtesy to restrain his laughter back to an air of faint amusement.] Oh, I'm quite fine. Are you in need of any aid? [It is, one must note, costing him a lot in restraint.]
collector: (you are far too devious)

The affected are usually more visible, so, oh, I'd guess about half and half? Many of our more competent residents have changed species, but you'll have seen Sergeant Howie proving himself as ever.

[The amusement isn't giving. It especially isn't giving with Braxiatel's Chartreux peeks her head over to get a good look at Heero.] Ah, Sherry. Say hello to Heero; he's incapacitated but still very capable and self-reliant, we've no doubts. [Sherry's response is an odd, almost clicking call.]

So young and so cynical. [As if Brax wasn't a cynic before he was 50 a very young age for a Time Lord. The other cat mimics the head tilt] I don't think so, but as it's been some time since I last spoke to cats that oughtn't be talking, I can't be certain.

[She does paw at the screen, which is--something?]

[Sherry has now started circling the image to try to get a better view of the cat.] I do have a theory. I suspect it would be more openly embraced back home than here, but perhaps I'm underestimating the Barge at large. Would you ever think yourself comparable to a cat, Heero?

[Oh, SHERRY NOTICES. And now she's ducked down behind an inkwell to watch, flicking tail and all] I'd ask you to consider the analogy now, but you seem otherwise occupied. [The amusement is creeping back into his voice.]

[OKAY THAT IS IT, HE IS STAGING AN INTERVENTION. Braxiatel turns the communicator to turn the two cats out of each other's line of sight.]

[As a consequence, Sherry pounces the communicator, and there is now a great deal of cat in the video.]

[Brax continues onwards like this happens all the time and is not worthy of consequence.]
From the ground level, who is affected is, I suspect, completely without pattern. But it seems to me that the vast majority of changes have themselves been fairly appropriate, and so rather telling.

[Braxiatel first takes a moment to appreciate what just happened.]

Why do you say that? [He considers trying to take the communicator away from Sherry, but he's a bit wary of getting between a cat and the thing she's playing with.]
