When did humanity make first contact with aliens in the alternate realities represented here?

[Filtered to Infirmary Staff; visible to Ariadne]

Is it necessary to move someone in a coma to the infirmary?

[NO ALIENS IN SPACE? IT IS TERRIBLE.] First official contact was the Arcturan Treaty of 2085. [At least in this timeline. You can't rewrite history, not one line of it, unless it would get you a new story.] After that became more accepted, it was quickly made clear that various covert organisations had been managing alien visitations to Earth for quite some time.

Official contact or unofficial contact?

[Infirmary]

I don't believe so, no. They require no medical intervention. I do like to stop by and check on people, though.

For what purpose did they manage the visitations or for what purpose were they covert?

[And of course, different governments hiding their access to alien technology gave them advantage over one another, hence the secret UN fights.] Humans were already moving through the Early Space Age, and as I implied, aliens had been dropping by on a regular basis for some time. Some as tourists, some for smuggling jobs—galactic law decrees that you can't trade with or take resources from species that haven't entered the galactic playing field—and more than a few to invade.

With human civilisation at the generally accepted point of introduction, the other galactic powers decided it was about time they make these things official, before humanity started blundering around into delicate balances of power that would make the most complex geopolitical configurations look like child's play. Acturans tend to have an eye for profit, so they stepped in and got themselves the position. The organisations that had been dealing with aliens prior had familiarity with Acturans and considered them acceptable for first contant. And once that was through, all those rich Earthly resources were allowed into the galactic market, with Acturans first to make the claim for them.

I believe the public statements declared they wanted to welcome Earth into the realm of responsible space travel and offer a mutual exchange of knowledge and ideas.

There were the expected declarations of the end of the world, but the majority had been consuming science fiction for long enough not to be surprised. Most seemed pleased to have it all finally brought out in the open.

For me it was April 19, 2007.

[Infirmary]
Alright then.

Yes.

Over five centuries. I'm from the early 27th century. [Going by Earth Normal measurements, taking the base off of the CE calender, and ignoring all the conscious adjustments that are forced by alternate-sized solar systems, cryogenic sleep, faster-than-light travel, and all the other shenanigans that make it really hard for people from his era to give their birthday.]

What calendar system do you use? [Because calendars are often based on important events, so he is curious.]

Planetary colonisation or settled space stations?

Well...that depends. Brax is right about the official contact, but as for unofficial contact...that's tougher. I know that I visited Earth around 1688-Jamie almost got us into some trouble then.

Yes and no? I was in a hospital and it got transported to the moon.

Jamie McCrimmon! An old friend, I miss him every now and then. He's Scottish, quite clingy if I remember properly.
